Group Gets Under the Helmet with Lax Video
When you call
your sports production company "Under the Helmet," you
better hope that you are providing viewers with close up
coverage of lacrosse. Brent Coye, a 1992 national
championship winner at Nazareth College and producer of
"Only the Strong Survive," upholds UTH’s image with its
inaugural movie.
"Only the
Strong Survive" is entertaining for lacrosse fans not for
the instruction it offers. It doesn’t really offer that
much. What is does offer, however, is great video footage
for the lacrosse fan interested in seeing how the game
should properly be played. Coupled with commentary from an
impressive list of college and club players and coaches,
Coye has put together a fitting tribute to good, physical
lacrosse.
Coye’s
friends help make the film with their commentary on the
physical nature of lacrosse, but as expected, the game
footage offered in "Only the Strong Survive" is the selling
point in the video. Coye assembles clips from top college
games, the National Lacrosse League and USCLA to entertain
the viewer and leave the impression that lacrosse, when
played correctly, is not for the faint of heart.
The 30-minute
film suggests to viewers a couple of things. One is that
lacrosse is and should be a violent game. People who like
violent lacrosse will like Coye’s video. Coye does have some
nice footage of pretty goals, including a number by friends
Tim Soudan and Paul Gait, but most of the time those scorers
end up ass over tea kettle.
The other
thing the film suggests to the viewer is that lacrosse,
despite the violence, is a beautiful game. The 30-minute
piece is filled with beauty shots from the outside, behind
the back goals, pretty give and go’s, and impressive moves
to the cage. And using primarily footage from his cast of
contributors - Gait, Soudan, Charlie Lockwood, Billy Daye,
Gordie Purdie, and Matt Palumb among them - Coye’s film has
plenty of good action for the lacrosse fan looking to see
how the game should be played.
The video is
available online for $28.95, but it’s well worth the
investment, a production that can be watched over and over
again. Read more about Under the Helmet’s "Only the Strong
Survive" at www.Under-the-Helmet.com, and order a copy
online or at your nearest lacrosse store.
